About Me

My Bio

I’m a director/writer/editor, whose work in film has taken me across the United States and around the globe. I’ve had the privilege of working in one or several capacities on projects with Selena Gomez, Eminem, Topher Grace, Sarah Silverman, Zach Galifianakis, The Olsen Twins, Casey Wilson, Tony Hale, Andy Richter, Reggie Watts, & SNL’s Kyle Mooney and Beck Bennett. Her commercial clients have included the United States Marine Corp, the J. Walter Thompson ad agency, Interscope Records, Universal Music Group, Radio Disney, Belvedere Vodka, Apartment Therapy, Refinery 29, Gensler, and Nestle.

TOKYO PROJECT, a film I edited for Executive Producer Lena Dunham (Girls), and Emmy winning director Richard Shepard, premiered at the 2017 Tribeca Film Festival. The Film, which stars Elisabeth Moss (Handmaid’s Tail), was just picked up by HBO.

In 2017 I co-founded Salute Your Shorts Film Festival in Los Angeles.  As Artistic Director, I curated an outstanding group of films, several of which have since become Oscar Short-listed.  Judges for the festival (who gushed over the outstanding lineup) included Emmy Winning Actor Tony Hale, LEGO MOVIE producer, Dan Lin, BIG BANG THEORY writer/producer Jeremy Howe, CEO of Seed&Spark Emily Best, and SHAPE OF WATER lead actor Doug Jones.

I directed Doug alongside Erika Christensen (Parenthood) in Adopted: The Original Series, a comedy in the vein of Modern Family.  My most recent short, Rekindled, has played 38 festivals  (as of January 2018, since premiering in April).  Rekindled has won a handful of awards including multiple “best film,” “best comedy,” and “best actress” awards.  The comedy stars comedienne Kelly Vrooman, and was inspired by true events which Kelly wrote about as part of a series produced by The Huffington Post and Take Back the Night, in conjunction with Sexual Assault Awareness Month.  Kelly and I continue to collaborate and are currently taking meetings for two female-driven comedy series we created  (MANAGING LIFE and BLUE SKIES).  Additionally, SPLIT —a female driven dramady feature we co-wrote, explores the ways shame bifurcates female relationships.

Over the last few years, I directed several other films including: HOTWIRE, an action short film starring Teri Reeves (Chicago Fire); CHASING HAYES, a small town love story starring Kent Boyd (So You Think You Can Dance); Семья, a narrative drama short entirely in Russian, WILDMAN ATHLETICA, showcasing the aerial silks talents of Christa B. Allen (Revenge) and Troian Bellisario (Pretty Little Liars), and the visually haunting, ONCE UPON A DREAM and YOUNG + BEAUTIFUL – two in a series of 5 aerial silks films Erin has directed starring Cirque du Soleil performer Selkie Hom.  See some of my own aerial silks silks on instagram account.  My work in music videos has won awards in several international festivals and has been featured on MTVu and vh1.com, shooting indie artists to the front of public attention. COURAGE IS was picked up by ABC Family for broadcast nationwide.

I’m currently writing my third narrative feature screenplay, ITALY STORY, a comedy based on the time I was left behind as a 14 year old on a class field trip to Italy.

My Beginnings

I was born in Cuyahoga Falls, Ohio and received a Waldorf grade school education, which taught me the importance of artistic expression and individual identity. At the age of 7 my family moved to Akron and I fell in love with gymnastics .For the next several years of my life I competed as an elite level gymnast. Here I am at age 12 competing in the Junior Olympic games on floor.
… and on bars.  You can hear my mom and my younger sister Kelly proudly cheering me on.

I’ve never been one to accept limitations without a fight. In high school, in response to a dare, I competed on the boys wrestling team and won several matches at the 103 lb class, although only 98 pounds at the time. Despite my height of 5’1″, I decided I wanted to learn to pole vault my senior year of high school and placed 2nd in the state of Ohio with a jump of 10’9″. That year I also became the first person in my school’s history to compete in the State Meet for cross country four years in a row.

In College I rediscovered my creative roots through the bliss of filmmaking. I met my husband Jake when he acted on my first film in college and we moved to Los Angeles together upon graduating. Since that time directing and producing has taken me all over the United States and across the globe. I love meeting people and learning about different cultures. My favorite thing about filmmaking is that every day is new.
